In the ongoing New York Attorney General’s lawsuit against the Trump Organization, the defense’s expert witness, Michiel McCarty, has come under scrutiny for the hefty sum he received for his testimony. According to ABC News, McCarty, chairman and CEO of MM Dillon & Co. investment bank, was paid roughly $350,000 by the Trump Organization and its political action committee, Save America.

This revelation arose during the testimony of Trump Organization CFO Allen Weisselberg, who confirmed the payment arrangement. The case centers around allegations that the Trump Organization inflated the value of its assets to secure more favorable loans, charges which Trump, his sons, and other executives deny.

Following Weisselberg’s testimony, Trump addressed reporters, emphasizing that McCarty found “absolutely no fraud, accounting fraud of any kind.” He lauded McCarty’s expertise, stating, “I don’t know him, but he’s a highly respected man.”

As the trial progresses, McCarty is expected to return to the stand on Tuesday, while Trump himself faces his second round of testimony on Monday. The substantial sum paid to the defense expert adds another layer of intrigue to this complex and high-profile case.
